Beyoncé Knowles and her mother Tina have signed a deal with airbrush makeup firm Temptu to create a limited edition collection of temporary tattoos under the Deréon label, debuting Nov 1.

“With a Sixties-pinup-girl meets-futuristic-biker-chick theme, Beyoncé and I really wanted to give our Deréon fall 2010 campaign a tough edginess,” said Tina Knowles, Deréon’s founder, creative director and designer. “We decided to invite Temptu to help us create custom body art for her to model with our fashions. The resulting images were so strong that we realized consumers might want to re-create the tattoos themselves.”

The basic kits contain eight temporary tattoo transfer sheets with two each of the four designs; 10 tattoo application pads and one of three kit designs, each featuring a different image of Beyoncé, shot for the fall/winter Deréon ad campaign. The deluxe edition includes everything in the basic kit, as well as a signed photo of Beyoncé and a chance to win a trip to New York for a photo shoot.

In September of 2007, Jezebel.com reported that of all the 101 shows that took place during New York fashion week, one third employed zero models of color. Since then, they've tried to track diversity on the runway every season. Here are their findings:

This fashion week, there were 128 New York shows and presentations that were covered by Style.com. Non-white Latina models were used 95 times in all of fashion week, or around 2.3% of the time, and Asian models were used 296 times, or 7.1% of the time. Black models were used 353 times, or 8.4% of the time. Models of other races, like the Moroccan Hind Sahli and the Canadian model Tara Gill, who has Native American heritage, were used 16 times, or 0.4% of the time.

Fashion Week mania has bitten the dust and I am back at home caring for my sick kitty cats. I'm hoping for the best for them. Similarly, I'm also thinking positive thoughts for LaQuan Smith who recently unveiled his Spring 2011 collection at the Peninsula Hotel.

According to Fashionista: Guests were seated at round tables and models sashayed about the room pausing at each table to strike a pose. Only this season, as evidenced by the celeb-packed room, buzz has built around this young designer. While Andre Leon Talley has supported LaQuan since the beginning, for his second show, Talley brought along Diane von Furstenberg. Sandra Bernhard and Common were there (not together), and Serena Williams closed the show (maybe she is back with Common?).

Lots of Versailles-inspired looks. Marie Antoinette served as Smith's muse as he imagined her in present-day, “[doning] only Haute Couture luxury while mixing in extreme lighthearted gaudiness.” I love the glitter-glamour of the gemstone embellished tunics and feathered two-pieces, evoking thoughts of 1970s Brian Eno.

According to Fashionista.com, an editor over at Jezebel received a tip that fashion writer Derek Blasberg asked YSL to pay him $2,500 to cover a party for Style.com, where he’s Editor-at-Large (usually a title that comes with a retainer.)

According to Fashionista sources, Style.com’s freelancers receive, on average, around $100 for covering a party (and $25 for regular posts), but we’re assuming Blasberg’s retainer affords him a bit more. He is a fairly big name, after all, with a recently-published book and steady gigs with Harper’s Bazaar and V.

Last month, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) began cracking down on "blogger gifts" with a set of guidelines, stating that bloggers who make an endorsement must disclose the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service. And while decisions will be reached on a case-by-case basis, the post of a blogger who receives cash or in-kind payment to review a product is considered an endorsement.

In short, Derek Blasberg might be in some deep poo.

An English magazine editor and international style icon, Isabella Blow fostered such talents as Alexander McQueen and milliner Philip Treacy. Best known for her extravagant fashion, she was the darling of the beau monde who tragically committed suicide in May 2007 after a battle with depression and ovarian cancer. Now, a new play about the life of the icon will premiere at the 11th Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival next month. Titled Blow by Blow, the play is unrelated to the Blow film, which is being produced by John Galliano. But much like the movie, the stage presentation will depict her life and death.

In other beauty news: next Wednesday, June 23, Topshop kicks off a four-day tour of New York in its own magic bus in promotion of its new line of makeup.
The itinerary?
Thursday, they'll ship a busload of personal shoppers to Washington Square Park, where one lucky winner will come away with a $250 shopping spree. Friday, they'll set up a DIY booth in McCarren, and Saturday they'll return home to Soho for a beach party with frozen lemonade in front of the store.

According to Racked.com, as with all things Topshop, the line is trendy, relatively well-priced, and not for the shy. In an interview with Stella McCartney at her Spring 2011 presentation last Wednesday, New York fashion director Harriet Mays Powell discovered the designer's hatred for the word 'resort'.“How unsexy is that word? BKLYN Yard has been forced to shut down by their longtime landlord less than a week after they kicked off the season with a weekend of opening events and following yesterday's appearance in the NY Times.

E-mail message from Eamon Harkin below:

Hello All

I am heartbroken to tell you that BKLYN Yard, the home for Sunday Best for the past two years, has ceased operations. The landlord of the space notified the management company yesterday that he would no longer honor the lease which had been in place since early this year. (You can read the story here.) Justin, Doug and I are still trying to make sense of it all, but while we're doing that, we're working on other plans to keep Sunday Best going.

For now, this Sunday's party with DJ Koze will be at Littlefield and all the pricing and timing details will be the same. We'll let you know as we have updates for following weeks, but for now, rest assured that we won't stop until we have a home that makes sense for this good thing we've got going on. Every loss presents an opportunity.

I don't know how I feel about the new Nordstrom Rack opening in Union Square but I do know that I was brought up to love a good deal. My father, a Lacoste searsucker suit wearing clotheshorse, loves a sale. "They are just giving everything away!" my father would boast after New Jersey mall shopping day.

I'm more apt to check out a sample sale for deep discounted finds as opposed to visiting a discount retailer.
